- Medical Conditions & Clinical Risk Groups - You qualify for the free NHS flu jab of the following underlying health conditions:
- Respiratory Conditions:Asthma (requiring a continuous or repeated regular steroid inhaler or steroid tablets, or past hospital admission
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD),
- emphysema, or chronic bronchitis Cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, or pulmonary fibrosis
- Heart Conditions: Chronic heart disease (e.g., heart failure, congenital heart disease, coronary heart disease, rheumatic heart disease)
- Kidney Disease:Chronic kidney disease (stage 3, 4, or 5, kidney failure, nephrotic syndrome, or kidney transplant)
- Liver Disease:Chronic liver disease (e.g., cirrhosis, chronic hepatitis, biliary atresia)
- Neurological & Nerve Conditions:Conditions affecting the brain or nerves (e.g., Parkinson's disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), cerebral palsy, stroke, or transient ischaemic attack (TIA))
- Severe epilepsy Endocrine System Conditions
- Diabetes (Type 1 or Type 2) Addison’s disease or long-term adrenal insufficiency
- Immunosuppression / Weakened Immune System:Immunodeficiency diseases (e.g., HIV/AIDS, severe combined immunodeficiency) Individuals receiving immunosuppressive treatments (e.g., chemotherapy, radiotherapy, organ transplant anti-rejection therapy, biological therapies, or high-dose oral steroids)
- Splenic Dysfunction or Absence:Sickle cell disease or coeliac disease causing splenic dysfunction Splenectomy (spleen removed) or asplenia
- Learning Disabilities:Individuals on the GP learning disability register
- Severe Mental Illness:Severe mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or severe depression
- Morbid Obesity: Adults (or adolescents aged 16+) with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40 or above
- Are 65 and over (including those who'll be 65 by 31 March)..
- Are pregnant.
- Are in long-stay residential care.
- Receive a carer's allowance, or are the main carer for an older or disabled person who may be at risk if you get sick.
- Live with someone who is more likely to get infections (such as someone who has HIV, has had a transplant or is having certain treatments for cancer, lupus or rheumatoid arthritis).
- Frontline health or social care workers.
